Hotel La Neige: A New Era of Distinction

Hotel La Neige, a heritage-rich hotel with deep French influences, has recently been sold and is now managed by Hakuba Hospitality Group. While preserving its original spirit, it is undergoing a transformation into a luxury, multi-brand resort that emphasized its unique character, historical charm, and strong French Connection.

Notable enhancements will include:

  • Full refurbishment of public areas, including the addition of a new cocktail bar
  • Simplified room categories
  • Upgraded room amenities such as Smart TVs, Marshall Bluetooth speakers, Aesop amenities, among other thoughtful touches

Pillars of Excellence

  1. Nature
Built in unison with the surrounding forest, La Neige offers year-round access to the best of Hakuba’s natural beauty — from deep snow in winter to lush trails in summer. The setting is quiet, immersive, and always close to nature.
  2. Taste
Thoughtfully crafted, seasonal menus paired with exceptional wines create a dining experience that reflects both the region and the season. For many guests, it’s set to be a highlight of their stay.
  3. Architecture
Modeled after Frank Lloyd Wright’s iconic Dana-Thomas House, the hotel embodies the essence of Prairie School design—from its circular arches and expansive windows to sweeping rooflines and strong horizontal planes that echo the American plains.
  4. Music
Music is life force of Hotel La Neige. All encapsulating—echoing through the forest, drifting from the dining room, and lingering in the stillness of night. At Hotel La Neige, sound is more than atmosphere; it’s emotion, memory, and presence.

In-House Fine Dining

At Hotel La Neige’s Restaurant, the guiding philosophy is straightforward: cuisine should reflect its time and place with clarity and intention. With aspirations toward Michelin-level quality, our Chef de Cuisine and team craft a dining experience rooted in the landscapes of Shinshu and the surrounding region.

The menu highlights locally sourced ingredients and regional specialties — from tender mountain vegetables in spring to wild mushrooms and herbs in autumn — brought together through precise French technique and a respect for Japanese seasonality. Each set course offers a carefully balanced progression that reflects both cultural influences and the natural environment.

Lloyd’s Bar

Named in homage to Frank Lloyd Wright — whose influence is woven throughout Hotel La Neige — the bar is both a tribute and an experience. Its cocktail menu draws inspiration from Wright’s travels, his deep connection to nature, and the era he helped define. Expect reimagined classics, seasonal infusions, and a thoughtful focus on balance and craftsmanship.

Surrounded by archival photographs of early Hotel La Neige and Wright’s most iconic works in Japan and beyond, the space feels both timeless and vibrant. Here, every drink tells a story, every detail is intentional, and each evening unfolds at its own elegant rhythm — bold, understated, and beautifully composed.
